In-Game Role Play

Role Playing on servers is an exciting way to become immersed in a fictional world that has endless opportunities. No two players’ experiences will ever be the same on Imperial Craft! But what is Role Playing on a Minecraft server? Simply put, it is when a player plays a role in-game! A player can choose to become a bank teller, a priest, a waiter, a Colonial Officer, a general, a Cabinet Member, an adventurer, a businessman, a farmer, and even a drunkard who hangs around the docks downtown – the possibilities are endless!

Before One Can Begin Role Playing on the Server, He or She Must Create a Character. What Makes a Good In-Game Persona?

I. Select a Town Where You Want to Start – Before a player should start creating a persona, he or she should select the town where he or she wants to live. If one chooses to live in Osiris, for example, then he or she will probably want to create an Egyptian persona. For first-time players, the Imperial Craft staff recommends that they start in the capital city of Newington. A Citizen of Newington can come from any of the colonies and can move back to them at any time, and the city is the easiest place to begin playing the game since one can get a house with the money he gets once joining.

II. Create A Name – Be creative. There is no need for a player to use his or her real name, although that is fine. Instead of John Smith, a player can become   Harold Werberjargermanjensen!

III. Imagine A Backstory - Is your character the descendant of French Trappers, English Royalty, Chinese Raiders, American Industrialists, or poor immigrants making their way in the new empire? Why has your character moved to this specific town? What are his or her goals? Will he or she start a business, become a politician, or do his or her best to mooch off friends? Be sure to read the in-game server history for inspiration. Perhaps your character is a war veteran who served in the Newington Navy, or maybe he can trace his roots back the recently discovered Roman ruins in Urbs!

IV. A Cool Skin – If a player is a hobo in 1881, then he should have a skin that makes him look the part! Would a nineteenth-century business owner have neon clothes and a baseball cap? Of course not! Look up period styles on Google and make your own creative skin or search the thousands of period skins already on the internet to find the one that best fits your persona.

In-Game Titles

These titles do not make players staff on the server. Players interested in applying for a staff position should look here. These titles are for RP purposes only. They allow other players on the server know how your person ranks in the society. Is your character an educated Doctor, or is your character only a lowly clerk? To gain a title, send an e-mail to imperialcraftminecraftserver@gmail.com requesting the title you want or speak with the Owner, Ian, when he is online. If you think a title should be added to this list, please send an e-mail with the proposed title and a description of it.
